* A long time ago, there was a war between the sexes for control of the world and women lost the earth.  It was men who got to decide the structure of society; what was acceptable, good, moral, the color of right.  Now the turnkey of history has shifted as existing structures no longer bear the weight of time.

* A difference of one hour, one hotel, one gentleman.  Time and singularity provide the canvas for subjective action.

* “Now I eat red meat and sleep when I feel sleepy,” she thought bitterly.

But she waited placidly.  She knew she would soon be told all that she must think and say and do and feel.

* p.284-6 “The man is 2m tall therefore he is not 3m tall.”

* p.357 The clock story

Measuring a part of infinity so when a clock is not bewildering - is it doing away with time, i.e. allowing us to ignore ‘it’

* Russells hierarchy of types for Witt’s theory of symbols.  Logical relationships between a proposition and a state of affairs.  Self-manifestations, the set of all classes is not in the set of classes.  No facts a priori.  It is man’s imposition of functions on the objective world, the subjective over the objective.

* p.129 “We can be indefinite and certain but surely the world cannot be.  The world has a fixed structure.  And this allows the possibility of language having a definite meaning.”  This assumes we as different from the definite world, and yet we created language.

* Metalanguage: ‘chair’ is not a chair, ‘wolf’ is not a wolf, but ‘predicate’ is a predicate.

We are perhaps more inclined towards the fallen angel than towards true aspiration.
